About Us

Timberworks is a multi-disciplinary design, engineering and wood manufacturing company based in Ruby Bay, Nelson, New Zealand.  The Timberworks team is made up of a close collaboration of designers, engineers, carpenters, joiners and project managers.  Our commitment to quality and service and our desire to understand the needs of our clients is our defining characteristic and our daily goal.  Timberworks was started in 2002 by two NZ couples including a NZ qualified builder and a NZ timber engineer following a period of training at one of the largest Canadian Post and Beam (Timberframe) companies. 

The Timberworks workshop is located in Ruby Bay, Nelson.  The 1200m2 facility houses a post and beam workshop, a band-sawmill and the design/engineering office.  Nelson is a great location for Timberworks as there are good timber resources and a range of timber manufacturing and processing companies.  Nelson is also home to one of NZ’s leading wood working schools as well as many timber craftsman.
